Gather information and requirements

Before starting on any project, meet with a team of primary stakeholders to determine what problems brought you together. Define goals, requirements, and expectations.

Research data and findings

Compile the team’s findings and begin doing the necessary task of building the story. I use this time period to develop personas, scenarios, and everything in between.

Sketch and mockup ideas

By now, a general idea of where the pieces go starts to fit into place. I sketch ideas based on my findings and review with the team. After the team accepts all concepts, I move on to low-fidelity wireframes to being mapping interaction.

Prototype and test

To better understand my vision, it’s necessary to prototype the work I’ve created at this point. I use InVision to showcase these ideas to both the team, and if necessary, the client. If something isn’t working, I go back to the drawing board.

Design and prepare assets & guides

In conjunction with iterating concepts in low-fidelity, I begin to create a visual representation of the overall look and feel of the product. Unless the style is already defined, I create a build guide for development and a style deck for the client.

development

Bringing the work to life

Working closely with your development team is key to the success of how my product works. After cutting assets and handing over files, I sit alongside the team to knock out any bug or off-centered pixel that may occur during coding.

Monitor and iterate

At the end of the creation and development of my product, I can start to wind down my involvement and prepare to ramp up for the next step in enhancing features. By monitoring how the product takes to the masses, the team can assess and brainstorm how to improve our work.
